Assortments are created by selecting a set of attributes (such as department, category, or cluster) and a timeframe (e.g., season). Products can be included in multiple assortments across different seasons, and Toolio allows planning by time and cluster groups by location. This enables both new and existing assortments to be managed in a unified workflow, with the ability to roll up and review as a singular plan over time.
The lowest level of planning in the Assortment Plan is at the Choice (typically style/color) x Cluster (group of locations) level. This allows for detailed planning by product and location group, supporting both broad and highly localized assortment strategies.
Toolio provides automated clustering, which analyzes data trends and location attributes (such as space and geography) to create clusters of stores expected to behave similarly for subsets of products. Each assortment choice is associated with a cluster for a time period, allowing for dynamic expansion or contraction of assortments as seasons or store attributes change.

The system supports rationalization to recommend the ideal width and depth of the assortment based on financial targets and historical trends. Users can also compare current plans to past assortments for better decision-making.
Toolio allows for the creation of placeholder products in the assortment plan, which can later be matched to real styles from a style bank integrated with ERP or PLM systems. This supports planning for new products before final style adoption and ensures a seamless workflow from product development to assortment execution.
