Toolio Product Updates: July 22nd, 2025

Tooli Chatbot

We’re excited to announce the launch of Toolio Chatbot — a new analytics capability built directly into Toolio’s AI Assistant to help you quickly understand your business performance over time.

Whether you're reviewing last week's results, exploring last month's trends, or preparing for next month’s plan — Tooli is here to provide real-time, structured answers, right inside the chat.

What You Can Do

Ask questions like:

  • “How did I perform last week?”
  • “What underperformed last month?”
  • “What do you recommend I do?”
  • “Can you give me more detail?”

Tooli will instantly return data-driven insights across your division, department, class, and product levels, using your actuals and plans.

Supported Time Frames

Tooli works across multiple performance periods:

“How did I perform last week?” to try it out!

Daily Scheduled Snapshots for MFP

We’ve expanded the Scheduled Snapshots capabilities for the Merchandise Planning (MFP) module to include a Daily recurrence option—providing greater flexibility for teams that need more frequent data capture.

This enhancement is available via Settings > Data Management > Scheduled Snapshots, and applies to snapshots created for the Merchandise Plan module.

What’s New?

Daily Recurrence Option

  • A new Daily frequency is now available under the Recurrence field when scheduling snapshots.
  • Allows automatic daily backups of selected MFP scenarios.

Use Case: High-Frequency Planning

  • Supports planning teams that update scenarios frequently and require tighter version control.
  • Provides improved data traceability and confidence in rolling updates.

Storage Optimization

  • As a general system measure to manage data storage, we’ve introduced a cleanup process that removes snapshots older than 30 days.
  • This applies automatically to scheduled snapshots and helps keep system performance optimized.
  • It is not configurable by users and not surfaced in the UI.

Recap: Previously Released Enhancements

  • Module Name Selection: Choose between Merchandise Plan or Assortment Plan when creating a snapshot.
  • Context-Specific Snapshot Fields:
    • Merchandise Plan: Select a Scenario (snapshot name is automatically derived).
    • Assortment Plan: Manually enter a Snapshot Name.
  • Consistent Snapshot Fields: Naming Convention (incremental or time-based), Recurrence (now including Daily for MFP), and Time remain standard across modules.

Check out the help documentation for more information about the Scheduled Snapshots.

Gallery View in Reporting is Here!

We’re excited to introduce Gallery View—a brand-new way to visualize your data in Toolio!

What You Can Do

  • Spot Top-Sellers: See your best-performing groups at a glance with visual cards.
  • Compare to Last Year: Quickly enable side-by-side views for YoY comparisons.
  • Group Your Way: Use Group By to display performance at the Class, Department, or other levels.
  • Customize Cards: Choose which metrics and attributes to display—including optional product images.
  • Limit by Rank: Focus on your top 10, 20, or any number of groups using row limits.

How to Get Started

Go to the Reporting module.

  1. Switch to Gallery View at the top right
  2. Set your filters, groupings, and metrics—and you’re good to go!

Gallery View is a great way to visualize performance, spot trends, and drive faster decision-making across your team. Give it a try and let us know what you think!

Consolidating / Unconsolidating Receipts in Recommended Purchase Orders

We've enhanced the Recommended Purchase Order (RPO) workflow: you can now choose to consolidate or keep separate receipt dates when creating POs.

By checking or unchecking the new “Consolidate Dates” option, you can either combine all incoming receipts into a single line with the earliest delivery date for simplified bulk ordering, or maintain separate lines for each receipt with its original receipts schedule for more precise, staggered planning.

This added flexibility makes it easier to align purchasing with your business needs and supplier timelines.

Read more here on the help article.

You can now access Grid Summary in Compare Mode for Assortment Plan

Previously, selecting cells in Compare Mode triggered the like-for-like workflow. Now, selecting cells shows a grid summary—including min, max, avg, and sum—just like in standard mode.

Try it out and get instant insights across your selection!

Delink Actual Choice from Placeholder

Announcing the release of the Delink Choice from Placeholder feature in Toolio. This new capability allows users to remove an assigned actual choice from a placeholder, clearing all associated metrics to ensure data accuracy.

By simply selecting the item, right-clicking, and choosing “Delink Choices,” planners can return a line to its placeholder state and freely reassign a new product from the Style Bank. This enhancement offers greater flexibility for correcting errors, updating assortments, and maintaining clean, reliable plans.

Read more about it in the help article here.

Ignore Receipts in Assortment Plan

We've launched the Ignore Receipts functionality in Toolio’s Line Planning module.

This new feature allows planners to exclude system-generated receipts from their Adjusted plan by simply checking the Ignore Receipts box and saving. Once enabled, regenerating receipts will zero out the Adjusted line, ensuring BOP values reflect the absence of system-suggested receipts.

This gives teams greater flexibility to model plans based on their own assumptions and strategies, without being constrained by automated recommendations.

Read more about it in the help article here.

Location Exclusions in Assortment & Allocation Planning

Location Exclusions, a powerful new capability designed to give your teams granular control over where specific products can and cannot be planned or allocated is now live.

What Is It?

Location Exclusions let you restrict product availability at specific locations based on a range of factors—like supplier rules, regional constraints, or brand guidelines. Whether you're planning assortments or setting allocation strategies, you can now centrally manage these exclusions with ease and transparency.

Why It Matters

Previously, managing product-to-location restrictions meant tedious workarounds using clustering logic, manual overrides, or allocation hacks. Now, with Location Exclusions, Toolio helps you:

  • Enforce compliance with supplier, regulatory, and brand requirements
  • Prevent planning errors with centralized rules and imports
  • Keep forecasts and allocations accurate and aligned with your strategy

Key Features

  • Manual Rules: Define exclusions using choice and location filters on attributes like Department, Fabric, or Region.
  • Import Support: Upload bulk exclusions using a standardized file format.
  • Manual Enforcement: Flag exclusions directly within Assortment Planning and Allocation views.

Each exclusion dynamically impacts clustering, ROS (rate of sale), and more—ensuring your plan reflects reality.

Where You’ll Use It

  • Settings → Intelligence → Location Exclusions: View, filter, create, and audit all exclusions.
  • Assortment Planning (AP): Excluded locations appear as “Rule Exclusion,” are uneditable, and automatically adjust your clusters and forecasts.
  • Allocation Strategies: Excluded locations are automatically removed from override rules, with clear visibility into exclusions.

Dynamic Re-Evaluation

If a product's attributes change (e.g., a Category update, Style No), Toolio will re-evaluate its eligibility automatically in Phase 2. But now, you need to manually trigger this via "Reload Exclusion Index" for the specific choice(s) in AP to ensure accurate planning.

What’s Coming Next?

We’re exploring effective date support for temporary exclusions, some automations and improvements. You can read more about the Location Exclusions here.

Green Run Button in Merchandise Plan

We’re excited to bring the Green Run Button feature—previously introduced in Assortment Plan—to Merchandise Plan!

With this update, instead of processing a request for every individual input change, all modifications will be bundled and sent only when you click the Green Button.

This improvement enhances usability, making adjustments to line planning configuration smoother and more efficient.

Attributes on Recommended Purchase Order Document

You can now add Purchase Order document-level attributes directly to the Recommended Purchase Order (RPO) screen such as Ship Terms, Vendors etc.

This enhancement is in direct response to customer feedback requesting more flexibility and visibility when generating and reviewing recommended POs.

To configure it, similarly on how you'd add an attribute, go to Settingss > Organizational Settings > Attributes and select "Recommended Purchase Order Document" from the options and create your attribute.

Ability to see Change History for a Cell

We’re excited to share an update that makes tracking data changes even easier. You can now click on any cell (in Merchandise Plan) to instantly see the most recent change made to it.

For higher level cells, e.g. time aggregations or product aggregations, it would show you the date of the last change that was done on any cell underneath.

If you need more detail, you can quickly access the full change history for that period to review all edits in context. This enhancement provides greater transparency and helps ensure data accuracy and accountability across your workflows.

You can read more about this here and here is a quick video overview.

Datasets in Merchandise Plan

Datasets Overview

A dataset is a saved set of filters and timeframes that defines the data you work with in reports and views. Instead of recreating filters for every view, you can now save and reuse datasets across multiple views—keeping your analysis streamlined. For example, if you often filter for Men’s Division and Tops, simply save that setup as a dataset and apply it whenever you need by pinning.

Key Highlights

Decoupled Structure: Datasets (filters/timeframes) are now separate from Views (grouping/sorting), giving you more flexibility.

  • Save a dataset via the Dataset Options in the selector.
  • Set a default dataset for any view using the View Options menu.
  • Pin a dataset to keep it active even as you change views.

Read more here on the help article.

Backward Compatibility

All your existing views now come with datasets tied to them (named after the view). No disruption—just a more organized experience.

New Hover Shortcuts Added for Attributes, Metrics & Variants

We’ve introduced two helpful buttons that appear when you hover over items in the Attributes, Metrics, and Variants menus (under the View menu):

Select Only This Item – Instantly deselects all other options and selects just this one.

Move to Top – Moves the selected item to the top of the list for easier access.

These actions make organizing and focusing your view faster and more efficient.

Deeplinking from Size Curve and Sales Curve on Allocation Strategies

We’ve made it even easier to navigate your planning workflows! You can now access the Size Curve and Sales Curve associated with an Allocation Strategy in just one click.Simply hover over the relevant cell, and you’ll see a link icon. Clicking this icon will instantly open the corresponding curve in a new tab—so you can review details without breaking your flow.

Coming soon: This streamlined experience is being extended to all other curves and the Assortment Plan, helping you work faster and smarter across Toolio.

LLLY Metric Variant Now Available

Toolio now supports the LLLY (Last Last Last Year) variant across all modules, in addition to existing LY and LLY variants.

This allows users to reference data from three years prior in their planning workflows—ideal for analyzing long-term trends and seasonal patterns. LLLY is automatically available wherever LY and LLY are used, including in metrics, reports, and dashboards.

Data Sets in Merchandise Planning

We've released Data Sets in Merchandise Planning — a significant enhancement designed to provide greater flexibility, control, and transparency in your planning workflows.

To help you prepare for this update, we’ve created a recorded walkthrough that outlines what’s coming and how you’ll be able to leverage this new capability ahead of the release.
